The short version

Moku does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your books and reading activity stay on your device. That's it.

Data storage

All data — your books, reading progress, shelves, and preferences — is stored locally on your device. Moku does not have servers that receive your data by default.

Optional sync

If you choose to enable sync, your data is sent to a PocketBase server. This can be:

When using a self-hosted server, your data never touches our infrastructure. When using a hosted option, data is transmitted and stored solely for the purpose of syncing your library across devices. We do not analyze, sell, or share this data.

Sync is entirely optional. Moku works fully offline without it.

Analytics and tracking

Moku does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or tracking code. We don't know how you use the app, and we prefer it that way.

Third-party services

Moku does not integrate with any third-party advertising, analytics, or data-collection services.

The app may connect to the internet for:

Photo library access

Moku may request access to your photo library to allow importing book cover images. This access is optional and the app functions fully without it. No photos are uploaded or transmitted.

Children's privacy

Moku does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not require an account or any personal information to use.

Open source

Moku is open source. You can inspect the full source code to verify these claims at github.com/mukhtharcm/moku.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page with a new date. Since Moku collects no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
